The race

What HYROX Denver 2026 actually is.

HYROX is a hybrid fitness race that's grown from a niche event to over 750,000 racers worldwide in 2025. Every race is identical: 8 stations, 8 one-kilometer runs, one continuous clock. You run a kilometer, do a station, run a kilometer, do a station — eight times.

The stations, in order:

  1. 1000m SkiErg
  2. 50m Sled Push
  3. 50m Sled Pull
  4. 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
  5. 1000m Row
  6. 200m Farmers Carry
  7. 100m Sandbag Lunges
  8. 100 Wall Balls

Most first-time racers finish in 1:30 to 2:00. Pro division winners are under an hour. Either way, you're going to be running tired by station three — which is why HYROX-specific training matters.

Divisions

Which division fits you.

HYROX Open

The standard division. Lower sled weights, smaller sandbag, scaled wall ball target. Most first-timers race Open. Available in Men, Women, and age-group categories from 25-29 through 70+.

HYROX Pro

Same race, heavier loads: 152 lb sled push (Men), 110 lb sled pull (Men), 30 lb sandbag, 20 lb wall ball. For experienced racers and athletes targeting podium finishes.

HYROX Doubles

Two teammates split the work — one runs while the other works the station, or you alternate reps. Same-gender (MM, WW) and Mixed (MX) categories.

HYROX Mixed Relay

4-person teams (2M + 2W) split the eight rounds. The most accessible format if you're new to racing but want the experience.

Why this race matters

Denver's first regional HYROX.

HYROX Denver 2026 is the first regional race held in Denver, Colorado. That's significant. HYROX's growth has been explosive — 750,000+ racers in 2025, up from a handful of test events in 2017 — and Denver finally gets its own.

If you've been HYROX-curious, this is the cleanest possible on-ramp: a major race, in your backyard, at a venue that can handle the scale (the Colorado Convention Center hosts 1500+ athletes per HYROX event).

Register at hyrox.com as soon as registration opens — Denver-area HYROX races sell out fast based on the pattern from comparable first-year cities.

FAQ

Race-day & training questions.

When exactly is HYROX Denver 2026?
November 12-15, 2026 at the Colorado Convention Center (700 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202). Specific heat times are released by HYROX closer to the race.
How do I register?
Registration is through hyrox.com. Denver-area races sell out — register as soon as the event opens to lock in your division and preferred wave.
Do I need CrossFit experience to race HYROX?
No. HYROX is designed to be more accessible than CrossFit. If you can run, push a sled, and do basic functional movements, you can complete a HYROX race. Specific training improves your time significantly.
What does HYROX-specific training look like?
It's a mix of compromised running (running while fatigued), functional strength on the eight stations, and pacing practice. At Alpine, our Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday classes plus Friday run club are scoped for HYROX athletes. Get the full 12-week plan free.
How early should I start training?
12 weeks is the standard prep window if you're already conditioned. 16-20 weeks if you're newer to functional fitness. Starting now (April 2026) puts you well ahead for November.
How long does a HYROX race take?
First-time racers typically finish in 1:30 to 2:00. Competitive Open athletes finish 60-90 minutes. Pro division winners are under 60 minutes.
Can I try HYROX-style training at Alpine before committing?
Yes. Drop into a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday class as an experienced CrossFitter ($30 drop-in or your first one's free), or book a free No Sweat Intro to talk through a training plan with a coach.
