What it is

Strength training, scaled for the body you have now.

Most senior fitness programs are low-impact cardio — walking, chair exercises, gentle stretching. Those are fine for some goals, but they don't build or preserve what your body actually loses after 55: muscle mass, bone density, and functional strength.

Prime Vitality does. We teach the same core movements we teach every other Alpine member — squats, deadlifts, presses, carries — scaled appropriately to your body and your history. You'll learn barbell lifting with a CF-L2 coach in a room built for it. You'll get stronger. You'll carry groceries, grandchildren, and your own luggage more easily than you did a year ago.

Who it's for

Any adult 55+.

Brand new to training

You'll start with bodyweight movements and build from there.

A lifelong athlete slowing down

You'll find load and intensity you can still progress.

Coming back after a break

Years off the floor is common. We meet you there.

Managing a chronic issue

Arthritis, previous surgeries, balance concerns, hypertension — your coach will scale around it.

Everyone in the room is 55+. You'll train next to people like you, not 25-year-olds posting PRs on Instagram.

A class at Prime Vitality

A coached session, not a circuit.

Every Prime Vitality class is 60 minutes and coach-led. A typical session:

  1. Warm-up and movement prep (10–15 min): Dynamic stretching and prep for the day's lifts.
  2. Strength or skill work (20–25 min): Focused barbell or bodyweight strength at an appropriate load for each member.
  3. Short conditioning workout (10–15 min): Scaled and intentional — built for sustained effort rather than maximum intensity.
  4. Cool down and mobility (5–10 min): Targeted mobility and core work to close the session.

The coach watches the room the whole time. Every load, every rep, every scaling choice is individualized.

Prime Vitality FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need to be in shape to start Prime Vitality?
No. Most Prime Vitality members started with no recent training experience. The movements scale to where your body is today.
Is this just CrossFit for old people?
No. It's a dedicated program designed around what the 55+ body responds to best — sustained strength work, careful progression, and intentional recovery. It shares movements with CrossFit (squats, presses, deadlifts) but the programming is specific.
What if I have arthritis or a previous injury?
Prime Vitality is often the right starting point. Your coach will scale every movement around what your body can and cannot do. Members have successfully trained through arthritis, knee replacements, hip replacements, and back issues.
How is Prime Vitality different from senior fitness classes at the rec center?
The rec center typically focuses on low-impact cardio, stretching, and light resistance. Prime Vitality focuses on progressive strength and conditioning — barbell lifting, functional movement, measurable improvement.
Can I come more than three times a week?
Yes. Unlimited members can drop into any other Alpine class that works for your schedule and fitness level.
