Build Your Inner Citadel

Build Your Inner Citadel

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.

— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 8.47

That burning sensation in your lungs, the shaky legs on the last rep, the mental battle to push through a tough WOD—these aren't inherently good or bad. They are just sensations. Your mind, however, assigns meaning to them, labeling them as 'painful' or 'difficult,' and that's where the real struggle begins.

Today, observe your reaction to discomfort. Don't fight the feeling, but question your judgment of it. You have the power to reframe these challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to grow stronger, both physically and mentally. Let your estimate of the effort be one of resilience, not suffering.

Today's challenge: During today's workout, when you hit a wall, consciously choose to redefine that discomfort as a sign of progress, not a reason to stop.
