Practice With Intention
Every habit and faculty is preserved and increased by corresponding actions: the habit of walking by walking, the habit of running by running. If you wish to be a reader, read; if a writer, write. In the same way, if you wish to be temperate, practice temperance; if you wish to be brave, practice bravery.
— Epictetus, Discourses 2.18.1-2
Think about the movements you perform daily in the gym: the snatch, the pull-up, the burpee. Each repetition, each set, isn't just about moving weight or getting tired. It's about deliberately building a habit, forging a faculty, making your body and mind more capable.
This isn't just for the gym. Every choice, every action, reinforces who you are becoming. If you want to be resilient, practice resilience when things get tough. If you want to be disciplined, act with discipline in all areas of your life. You are literally training yourself with every decision.
Today's challenge: Today, pick one skill or habit you want to improve, inside or outside the gym, and perform a deliberate, focused action towards it.
