No Easy Way Out

We often look for shortcuts, the magic pill, or the easiest path to our goals.

No Easy Way Out

If you seek anything in life apart from virtue, you have strayed from the path. For there is no other good than virtue, and virtue itself is sufficient for happiness.

— Musonius Rufus, Lectures 17

We often look for shortcuts, the magic pill, or the easiest path to our goals. Whether it's fitness, work, or personal growth, the temptation to bypass the hard work is strong. But Stoicism reminds us that true progress, true 'good,' comes from within, from our character and effort, not from external outcomes or quick fixes.

Embrace the grind. The real reward isn't just the result, but the person you become through the disciplined, virtuous effort. Stop searching for an easier way; you already have everything you need to tackle what's in front of you.

Today's challenge: Today, when faced with a choice between the easy way and the right way (even if it's harder), pick the right way, especially if it involves burpees.
