Master Your Reactions

That moment when the WOD gets announced and your heart sinks, or when the barbell feels heavier than yesterday.

Master Your Reactions

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.

— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 8.47

That moment when the WOD gets announced and your heart sinks, or when the barbell feels heavier than yesterday. It's not the weight or the movement itself that causes your frustration, but your judgment of it. Your mind creates the struggle long before your body does.

Today, recognize that power. You can't always control the external circumstances—the clock, the reps, the ache—but you absolutely control your response. Choose to see the challenge as an opportunity, not an obstacle, and you'll find strength you didn't know you had.

Today's challenge: When a workout movement feels particularly tough today, pause for one breath and consciously reframe your internal dialogue from 'I can't' to 'I can learn from this'.
