There is a temptation to make every session a maximum effort, because effort feels like virtue. It isn't. Most training days are meant to be repeatable, not memorable.
The heavy day only works because the ordinary days built something for it to draw on.
Today's challenge: Train one session this week deliberately at eighty per cent and leave something in the tank.
