Ever find yourself scrolling through social media before a WOD, or mentally replaying yesterday's missed lift? Our minds love to wander, to invent problems, or to escape the present moment. This mental chatter can be as draining as any burpee, pulling focus from what truly matters right now.
The Stoics understood that the only moment we truly possess is the present. Don't let your energy dissipate on what-ifs or past regrets. When you feel your focus drift, gently bring it back to the task at hand, whether it's the next rep or the next breath. You have the strength for this moment.
Today's challenge: Today, before you start your workout or a challenging task, put your phone away and spend one minute simply breathing, focusing only on the present moment.
