Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?
A: I started CrossFit at the end of May 2017. At work, my coworker/best friend was always running off to crossfit and I was looking for a new thing to do. I dropped in and was hooked because of the great community and exercises.
Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)
A: I went to college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and then worked there for 3 years in the Pelvic Floor Research Group before moving out here to Denver to start Physical Therapy school. I have a younger sister who is out in San Francisco that hopefully y’all will meet one day!
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: Am I allowed to say every day is a good day at Alpine? The in house comp was a blast. I just love seeing everyone.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?
A: Before joining Alpine I took some time off from doing crossfit to travel and then move to Denver. Before I started crossfit out in Ann Arbor, I played water polo. It took me a little while to learn how to be a land person.
Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
A: It has provided me with some of my best friends both here in Denver and back in Michigan. It also allows me to stay healthy and active so I can go hiking and do outdoor activities!
Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: A cook book- I love making cookies and baking in general, so it would probably have all that yummy stuff in it.
Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?
A: I feel like I wouldn’t be the best at any Jeopardy category… least excited anything to do with book authors or movie stars, most excited if it had to do with water polo or cooking.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?
A: The first workout I ever did was Murph. My friend finally convinced me to go and I was in for a BIG surprise. I didn’t show up for the next week but I was hooked. I don’t know if it was the workout or the BBQ after with a bunch of great people that got me.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
A: I don’t know if I have a favorite or least favorite WOD. I like almost everything.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
A: I love biking and rowing and wall balls and muscle ups and double unders and handstand walking…. I like a lot of things. I try not to not like things, if that makes any sense. I probably need the most work on barbell cycling, so we can say that’s my least favorite? Or double dumbbell snatches, those are gross.
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: I would say don’t be afraid to say hi and ask questions. I know it is sometimes hard to be new and can be uncomfortable to ask people you dont know things, but everyone at Alpine is so nice and always more than willing to answer any questions. Just be yourself and have fun, that’s what everyone is there to do.
