Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?
A: Let’s go with 7-8 years. Robby, the former owner of Alpine CrossFit, got me involved.
Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)
A: My wife, Maggie, and I have two children Maddie and Bobby both of whom are Alpine CF members. I join the 5:30 am CF group at Alpine weekdays. Then I am off to work as a general contractor specializing in residential remodeling. During riding season, I am a mountain biking Dad, supporting the high school team. It’s a family affair for all four of us to spend time playing together.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: Bobby, my son, was in 6th grade at the time he competed in his first CF competition, the Christmas weightlifting competition at Alpine. All of the crowd was cheering him on like he was a rock star. I always enjoy the CrossFit open for the same reason.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?
A: I was doing a bootcamp type of work out 5 times a week. I stopped when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in my feet.
Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
A: I have developed a new group of adventure friends.
Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: I would write a historical novel about World War II.
Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?
A: What is Jeopardy?
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?
A: I don’t remember what I did in my first workout. I do remember everybody being very encouraging with me.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
A: My favorite workout we have not completed it yet! It will take place this summer, “Bob’s 60th work out party”. Usually once a week we have a work out that would be my least favorite, hard to pick one.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
A: My favorite is rowing and wall balls. Least favorite overhead squats.
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: You need to make CrossFit a routine. Once you establish that, working out is fun and rewarding.
