April 2020 Male Athlete of the Month – Edgar Audelo

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?
A: I’ve been doing crossfit for just past a year now. Ian got me into it. After crying and whining about crossfit all the time I decided what the hell it can’t be that bad if Ian does it. Plus I enjoy any and all types of exercising.

Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)
A: Originally from California…yeah yeah I know. But I moved here in 1999, so I call this place home. I work in Arvada at an Electrical Control Panel shop. That’s actually where I met Ian and boy did he like talking about CrossFit. Just ask him, he will tell you all about it. I enjoy everything up in the mtns. Mtn biking, camping, fishing, hiking, shooting, wrestling bears. You know, the usual stuff.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: Picking on Joe. No seriously, picking on Joe.

Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?
A: I would go to a conventional gym in the mornings and in the afternoons I’d do some light cardio.

Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
A: I’ve met some cool people. That’s the best part really is seeing how cool everyone is and having some people to compete with and cheer one another on.

Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: Crossfit, more than a gym, A Community.

Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?
A: Least excited, music. I don’t know anything about music. Most excited, 80s movies.

Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?
A: It was an endurance class with Annie. I went out soooo hot, after round 1 I knew I was in trouble. But I didn’t die. It was fun and I keep coming back so it’s not all that bad.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
A: I really enjoyed Murph. Being so new last year, I can’t wait to do even better this year.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
A: I love Burpees! I can do ‘em all day long, such a simple movement that can mess you up. It’s fun to see how some people pace it.

Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: You’re gonna have fun and it’s gonna be difficult to ever find a better gym. It’s not truly about crossfit, in my opinion. It’s how amazing everyone who attends is, including the staff. The workouts can be challenging but you’ll come back for more.
